Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Katowice: Everything that you need to know. The first professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament of 2022 will begin in February. Eight directly qualified teams and 16 Play-In teams will be competing for a total prize pool of $1,000,000 and becoming the IEM champions title in 2022.

Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Katowice: Format

The Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Katowice will take place in three stages. These will be:

  • Play-In Stage: The 16 Play-In teams will compete from 15th to 16th February 2022. It will be a Double-Elimination bracket format here. The first opening matches will be Best-of-1. The remaining following matches will be Best-of-3. The top eight teams from the Play-In will advance to the Group Stage.
  • Group Stage: The eight directly invited teams along with the eight advancing from the Play-In stage will compete from 17th to 20th February 2022. 16 teams will be divided into two (GSL) Groups following a double-elimination format. There will be 8 in each group and all matches will be best-of-3 series.
    The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs, with the Group stage winners moving to the semi-finals, the runners-up moving to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds, and the 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds directly.
  • Playoffs Stage: It will be conducted between 25th to 27th February 2022. It will be a single-elimination bracket format here with the Quarterfinals & semi-finals having a Best-of-3 match series. The Grand Finals will have a Best-of-5 series.

Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Katowice: Schedule and Prize Pool

  • The Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Katowice will be held from 15th to 27th February 2022. The total prize pool of the tournament is $1,000,000. Teams will also get a load of ESL Pro Tour points here according to their rankings. These rewards will be distributed among the teams as follows:
  • 1st Place: $400,000 and 1800 EPT points.
  • 2nd Place: $180,000 and 1400 EPT points.
  • 3rd and 4th Places: $80,000 and 1100 EPT points each.
  • 5th and 6th Places: $40,000 and 825 EPT points each.
  • 7th and 8th Places: $24,000 and 575 EPT points each.
  • 9th to 12th Places: $16,000 and 325 EPT points each.
  • 13th to 16th Places: $10,000 each and 125 EPT points.
  • 17th to 20th Places: $4,500 each and 60 EPT points.
  • 21st to 24th Places: $2,500 each and no EPT points.
