Intel Announced Esport Tournament in Summer Olympic 2020

Intel, a major leader in gaming technology, announced the Intel World Open tournament that will take place in Tokyo ahead of the Olympic Summer Games to showcase the excitement and influence of esports featuring Capcom’s “Street Fighter V” and Psyonix’s “Rocket League.”

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

The Intel World Open will kick off with online qualifiers in early March 2020, where any player, at any level can compete for a chance to join their territory or regional team.

In June, the final qualifiers will bring together the winning teams formed from the territory and regional qualifiers to determine who will qualify to the final event.

The total prize pool for both esport events is $500,000:

  • $250,000 total prize pool for “Street Fighter V”
  • $250,000 total prize pool for “Rocket League”
About Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is the latest instalment in one of the most iconic video game franchise in gaming history. The game is developed by Capcom where the gamers of all skills have built lasting memories over the last 30+ years with the game.

The Open Qualifiers will be held from Mar 21 – May 10 followed by the Closed Qualifiers. The finals will take place from July 20-22, 2020.

Developed by Epic Games’ San Diego-based studio, Psyonix, “Rocket League” is a high-powered hybrid of arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem with easy-to-understand controls and fluid, physics-driven competition.

The Online Qualifiers will held from May 2-24 and the finals from July 20-22, 2020.
