The tournament kicked off in Rio de Janeiro on October 31, with the final being held on November 13. Teams gave their all for a larger share in the $1.25 million USD prize pool in front of an exhilarating crowd of Brazilian fans.
In the semifinals between MOUZ and Outsiders, it was Outsiders that won despite the brave efforts put forth by MOUZ. In the other semifinal between Heroic and FURIA, Heroic made a comeback after losing the first map, eventually beating the crowd favorites FURIA.

The organization decided to go with this neutral name tag as a move to distance itself from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They met up against the Danish team Heroic in the grand finals of IEM Rio Major 2022. is from Denmark. It was a best-of-three-match series in which the teams had to play on Mirage, Overpass, and Inferno maps.
The series never went to the last map as Outsiders won two consecutive maps on Mirage and Overpass with a score of 16 – 12 and 16 – 5. This clean sweep allowed them to lift the IEM Rio Major cup in front of the attending 18,000 Brazilian CS:GO fans. More than 1.1 million people tuned in to watch the Grand Finals live online between Outsiders and Heroic.
