IEM Rio Major 2022 became the third most popular Tournament in CS: GO history – The Rio Major was surpassed by the series’ previous two most watched events, making it the third most popular competition in CS : GO history. The IEM Rio Major was the first major where the most popular match of the tournament was not the grand final.

On the evening of November 13, the second CS:GO Major of the season ended in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the decisive match of IEM Rio Major 2022, Russian-Kazakh team Outsiders defeated the Danes from Heroic 2-0. The interesting thing is that the final became only the second most popular match of the tournament.

In the finals, the Outsiders comfortably won their Mirage pick (16:12) and then crushed their opponents on Overpass (16:5). In the last minutes of the game, up to 1.17 million people watched the match simultaneously. This is the second best result of the tournament: the most popular game was Natus Vincere vs. FURIA Esports in the quarterfinals, which gathered 1.42 million Peak viewers.

The final match did not help to update the peak viewership figures on any of the streaming platforms where the major was broadcast. For example, the largest audience gathered during the game NAVI vs. FURIA on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook, while the climax on SteamTV was reached in the semi-finals of MOUZ vs. Outsiders.

From the main languages, a new peak was reached on streams in Russian and English: up to 344,000 and 573,000 people watched the match on them simultaneously. During the English-language broadcast, the highest number of 538,000 people was reached during the semi-final of Heroic vs FURIA Esports.
