Godlike Esports in PMGC 2021: Managers of the Team Skylightz, TSM, and XO shared Official Statement on Passport Issues- BGIS 2021’s winning team, Skylightz Gaming, will not be able to compete in the 2021 PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC). The top three squads in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS 2021) did not meet the documentation requirements (passports and vaccination records), so GodLike Esports might get the chance to represent India at PMGC 2021. The second and third-placed teams in BGIS 2021, Team XO and TSM, appear to have had issues with documentation.
Skylightz Gaming’s analyst pointed out that one of their players, Pukar, was underage that’s why he was not vaccinated. He also stated that Gamlaboy, another member of the squad, had covid symptoms from Round 3 of BGIS. So, their management waited, and as his home was in Kolkata where the number of Covid cases was high. Therefore, it was way too risky to send him there to get his passport made. So, they had no option but to focus only on BGIS, they thought management would help with the situation but it seems like they had other things planned.
Talking about the TSM, they gave the reason that they had applied for passports immediately after it was communicated to them by the organizer. While two of their players got their passports on time, the other two couldn’t get their passports. The reason was the covid situation and procedural delays.
Team XO also has the passport issue which caused them to miss the chance to represent India on a global stage at PMGC 2021. But there are some rumors that Team XO is still in contact with officials. But, by far now Team GodLike Esports is going to Dubai to represent India at the PMGC Grand Finals 2021.
Krafton communicated passport deadlines on Jan 6th and rules and regulations for invites on the night of finals. Additionally, the short timeframe between BGIS and PMGC made it difficult for organizations to obtain the necessary documentation. Tencent/Krafton has so far not made any official announcements.
