God of War Ragnarok Sequel: Santa Monica Studio’s latest job listing hints towards a sequel development
Despite losing the “Game of the Year” award to Elden Ring at The Game Awards 2022, God of War Ragnarok still got 6 awards at the event. The game was well received by both gamers and critics, providing a compelling story and some intense combat scenarios.
Now it seems Santa Monica Studio has started hiring personnel to develop a sequel of the game. They will want to build on that success by expanding the franchise.
The story of Kratos, the main character of the God of War series, has come a long way from its origins. During the 2005 PlayStation 2 era, the developers released 3 games back-to-back showcasing Kratos’ battles against his father Zeus, and the Greek Pantheon.
God of War Ragnarok scored 10 nominations for The Game Awards in categories like Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and more. Elden Ring scored seven nominations in similar categories. https://t.co/Vhf6fgpSg6 pic.twitter.com/hDyd84GBy3

After that series concluded, Santa Monica Studio revived the franchise by launching a new and better God of War in 2018. This time Kratos is seen living in the realms of Norse mythology and he even started his own family.
By the end of God of War Ragnarok, the story did not conclude completely but it hinted towards more adventures awaiting for both Kratos and his son Atreus.
While this new hiring seems to be for a God of War Ragnarok sequel project, there might also be a chance that it’s for a new DLC.
