God of War Ragnarok Release Date: Check out the new trailer, gameplay, and more. It’s been a whole year since fans last had any information about the sequel to God of War (2018). The fact that God of War Ragnarok is real and in development is nice, however, many PlayStation owners are longing for something more substantial. Development of the game took place under worldwide restrictions, so the delays are completely understandable and accommodative. Santa Monica Studio is in a way a victim of its own success. After releasing a game in 2018, the likelihood of sequels is a near certainty, especially given the epic cliffhanger ending.

Fans now have some new details to work with now. We know what Kratos’ next round of deicide will look like – keep an eye on the Norse pantheon.

God of War Ragnarok Release Date: Check out the new trailer, gameplay, and more

While we don’t know when God of War Ragnarok will arrive might be in 2022, Horizon: Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 are among the games scheduled for launch early next year, providing plenty of entertainment for PlayStation gamers in the meantime.

Overview of God of War Ragnarok gameplay

Several details on God of War Ragnarok were revealed in the trailer, including the return of Kratos and his son Atreus. The gameplay looks similar to the last game and features the likes of a classic God of War storyline. However, each character has a variety of new skills, powers, and weapons.

Atreus has also grown considerably since the last time we saw him and is now a much more formidable warrior. Although they seem to be closer, they disagree throughout the trailer as to what should be done about Ragnarok. Also returning is Mimir, who jokes about Kratos’ mood, adding that he’s still missing his body.

Other familiar characters return such as the blacksmiths, along with some intriguing new faces. It looks like part of the protagonist’s quest will be to save Tyr, the Norse God of War. Despite the fact that Kratos became his counterpart after killing Ares in the original God of War game, it will be interesting to see how developers will handle this from a lore perspective. Thor was also revealed to be voiced by Ryan Hearst of Sons of Anarchy fame. We do not have a specific date for when God of War Ragnarok will be released. We expect it to arrive around 2022 on PS5 and PS4.
