G2 Esports was eliminated from the VALORANT Champions Tour Europe, Middle East, and Africa Champions 1 closed qualifiers on Wednesday. Following their defeat in the EU VCT, numerous fans demanded the return of their youthful fragger Wassim “keloqz” Cista, who had been sitting on the bench during the winter. G2 player Auni “AvovA” Chahade even made a meme regarding the player’s absence from the lineup in a now-deleted tweet.
keloqz will rejoin the team in place of their star Duelist Oscar “mixwell” Caellas Colocho, according to a recent announcement from the team. After switching to Controllers halfway through the season, Mixwell returned to the main Duelist role in late 2021. Keloqz was last seen playing Breach, Reyna, and Jett in the Red Bull Home Ground #2 competition.

According to the VCT website, the French player’s participation has yet to be verified. Since the second qualifier is planned to begin on January 17, G2 will most likely announce his participation in the upcoming tournament within the next few days. According to the article, Keloqz was the duelist who practiced with the team while Mixwell was away. Mixwell led G2 to victory in the most recent VCT stage one qualification, which will be held today.
After losing to both Team Vitality and Alliance in the EU VCT closed qualifier, G2 was one of the first two teams eliminated. Because of their poor performance at the tournament, the team will have to compete in the open qualifier in order to compete in the EU VCT league again. The squad was one of four teams invited to the closed qualifying and did not have to compete in the open system this week.
