Famous Twitch Streamer xQc defends iShowSpeed following racism allegations
However, a video of Speed talking with a Chinese supporter sporting an Argentina jersey has started to circulate online. Speed continuously responds with the Japanese greeting “konnichiwa,” despite the fan’s repeated claims that he is Chinese, while the fan appears perplexed when asked why he is sporting the jersey.
Speed has subsequently defended himself in a video, claiming that at first he mistakenly thought the fan was Japanese and that he later sought to address him with “a nickname they call me in China”, after many called him a racist.
In a conversation with his viewers, xQc revealed that he had gone through the same thing iShowSpeed is going through as a result of being called a racist. “I know what it’s like to be labeled as a racist from out-of-context things,” he said.
xQc acknowledged that he was unaware of the whole extent of the Speed situation, but he pointed out that the mainstream media had called him a racist, which had a negative impact on his family.
“My family thought I was racist, because of some f**king article!” he exclaimed. “In my city, I was on the front page. I was this homophobic racist guy. I had to get out of that.”
iShowSpeed hasn’t faced any consequences for his actions from the platform he was streaming. Additionally, streamers like xQc have come in support of him.
