NESC 2022 ESFI to hold National Qualifications for World Esports Championship 2022

The National Esports Championships (NESC 2022) will begin from Saturday onwards, with the goal of selecting the Indian esports contingent for the 14th edition of the International Esports Federation’s (IESF) World Esports Championship, which will be hosted in Bali, Indonesia. The qualification event will take place under the auspices of the Indian Esports Federation (ESFI). The NESC’22 will be held entirely online, with top athletes from all over the country participating and demonstrating their abilities and plans. The qualifiers will be held in a double-elimination style and will end on June 20th. The World Esports Championship will take place in Bali from November 27 to December 7, with a prize pool of USD 500,000 (about Rs 4 crore). NESC 2022

CS:GO will see the participation of 16 teams competing with a veteran team consisting of Ritesh Sarda (Captain), Hrishikesh Shenoy, Anshul Ajay Adarkar, Shuvajyoti Chakraborty, Harsh Jain & Ninad Ramesh Sonare), which won the last NESC2022 for 13th WEC, Eilat.

On the other hand, the single-player title Tekken7 will witness the participation of a total of 37 players, including top stars Hitesh Khorwal, winner of the last NESC2022 (for 13th WEC, Eilat) and Rohit Jain winner of NESC2022 (for WSL2021) and Abhinav Tejan, who is the veteran of Tekken India.

As Esports is getting popular across India, Wasfi Bilal, Shakir Khan and Arsalan Nabi Wani from Kashmir are also participating in the national qualifiers and Wasfi Bilal aka Yoshikiller719 is also amongst the top Tekken7 esports athletes of the country and will look to seal this year’s WEC berth.

The DOTA team, comprising of veteran athletes like Moin Ejaz (captain), Krish, Abhishek, Ketan and Darshan, which qualified for the 2022 Asian Games, will be part of Team India for the 14th World Esports Championships.

With regards to PES2022, the recent update of PES/eFOOTBALL still does not have an option to hold an online championship, given the situation, ESFI is evaluating to organise a physical event that may be held in Delhi/Mumbai. The dates and venue for the qualifiers will be announced soon.

The Indian team, which was chosen based on their performance at the NESC2022, will compete in the World Esports Championships Regional Qualifiers, the dates of which will be published by the IESF soon. Other continental federations will help organise the Regional Qualifiers. ESFI’s collaboration with Artsmith-Concepts & Visions will continue, with Artsmith-Concepts & Visions serving as the communication partner. The National Esports Championships will be aired live on ESFI’s official YouTube channel and Facebook page from the semifinals onwards.
