Elden Ring is already one of the greatest RPGs on PC, and it’s now one of the most popular titles on Steam ever. According to the most recent statistics, FromSoftware’s newest game currently boasts the sixth-highest player count on Steam, surpassing New World, and is just shy of a million players in its second weekend.

The Game which was released on February 25, 2022, has amassed a staggering number of players in just over a week. According to Steam Charts, the game has become the sixth most played game of all time on Steam (Cyberpunk 2077’s record isn’t displayed properly), edging Amazon Games’ New World MMO out of sixth place with a peak player count of 952,523 at the time of writing (New World’s record is 913,027). In terms of concurrent players, Elden Ring is only 22,000 players away from surpassing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s player count of 974,592, and is only 50,000 away from surpassing 1 million.
Elden Ring was initially announced in 2019, and fans have had to wait more than two years for the large-scale ARPG to be released. While the game has gained great acclaim for its vast and complex open world, the soulslike has been plagued by technical troubles since its release. Even with strong hardware, the PC version of Elden Ring suffers from frame rate difficulties and graphical flaws. A Steam Cloud Error has also afflicted certain players, causing them to lose progress in The Lands Between. However, an Elden Ring patch for PC and PS5 was just published, which fixed a number of problems and visual difficulties.
Finally, Elden Ring’s meteoric success comes as a great, but happy, surprise. Hopefully, the creators will be able to continue successfully resolving the flaws and glitches in the PC version of Elden Ring so that the hundreds of thousands of people who are playing it may enjoy the game without having to deal with errors and glitches.
