DOTA 2 The International 10 Upper Bracket Finals: Everything that you need to know. It is that time of the year where the top DOTA 2 teams from various regions of the world come together to battle it out for the ultimate glory, the Aegis of Champions at The International 10. The tournament has been in full swing and we have already reached the point where one of the grand finalists is going to be determined.
The two teams who have reached the Upper Bracket Finals are Team Secret and PSG.LGD. While PSG.LGD have always been favorites coming into the tournament, it is the first time that Team Secret has reached the top three standing in their multiple TI runs. Let us look at their journey so far and try to anticipate their performance in the Upper Bracket Finals.
DOTA 2 The International 10 Upper Bracket Finals:
PSG.LGD
PSG.LGD has always been a dominant force in the DOTA 2 Pro Circuit. They finished in the 3rd, 2nd, and 4th spots at TI 9, 8, and 7 respectively. They have also won a variety of Tier 1 tournaments in the regular DOTA 2 Pro Circuit. Thus when they qualified for The International 10, very few doubted their chances of reaching the top three teams. Although their previous roster changed when the legendary duo, fy and Somnus left the team for Elephant while Chalice and xNova got transferred to EHOME, the new team comprising Ame, XinQ, NothingToSay, and TI 6 winners y’ and Faith_bian have proved their mettle.
Under the leadership of y’, the team has shown flexibility, resilience and performed well in the drafting phase of every match. This is the reason why they have lost only two games in the entire TI 10 tournament. In the group stage, they came back in the 2nd match against Team Secret to draw 1-1 while during the main event at Day 2, T1 beat them in the 2nd match to force a game 3 but PSG.LGD won the 3rd game to end the series with a 2-1 win. In all the other matches, they have managed to sweep their opponents to win every series by 2-0.
PSG.LGD will look forward to performing their best plays so that they can defeat Team Secret in the Upper Bracket Finals, finalize their spot in the Grand Finals and then strive to win TI 10, a feat that has been just outside their grasp in the previous TI tournaments.
Team Secret
Team Secret has always performed well during the DOTA 2 Pro Circuit in the past years but always failed to make it big during TI tournaments. They have redeemed themselves by finally making it to the Upper Bracket Finals and guaranteeing themselves a top 3 finish for the first time in the organization’s history. Except for MidOne who left the squad for OG at the end of 2019 and was replaced by MATUMBAMAN, their squad is the same as the one that played in TI 9.
Under the leadership of Puppey, Team Secret managed to finish second in their group with 4 wins, 2 defeats, and 2 draws. But at the main stage event, they have been at the top of their game and have not lost a single match. In their first Upper Bracket series, they dispatched the two-time TI champions OG into the lower bracket by handsomely defeating them by 2-0. In the second Upper Bracket Series, the chaotic playstyle of Team Secret proved too much for Invictus Gaming and they got thrashed by 2-0.
Team Secret has produced their best TI result and will seek to continue this performance even against PSG.LGD in the Upper Bracket Finals on 16th October. Winning there will finally give them a chance to win the Aegis of Champions.
