Counter-Strike 2 Showmatch: ESL announces world’s first CS2 showmatch taking place on LAN- ESL is one of the largest Counter-Strike esports tournament organizing groups in the world. With the reveal of the new version of the game this week, ESL has decided to conduct the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 showmatch on LAN. It will be held during the ongoing ESL Pro League tournament. Here is everything you need to know about it.

ESL announces world’s first Counter-Strike 2 Showmatch taking place on LAN

The ESL Pro League Season 17 is currently being held in Saint Julian’s Malta. 32 CS:GO teams from around the world are competing to become the champions and also qualify for the IEM Cologne 2023 and BLAST World Final 2023 tournaments.

Before the Grand Finals of the tournament take place tomorrow, ESL has announced that it will hold the world’s first-ever Counter-Strike 2 showmatch on LAN. The showmatch will take place live tomorrow (Sunday), with the competing players facing off against each other with close to 0 pings. It will begin at 14:25 CEST.

Here is the schedule for the event (all times are in CEST):

  • 13:30 – Doors of the venue open for fans visiting ESL Pro League Season 17 in-person
  • 13:45 – Start of the broadcast
  • 14:15 – Start of the live show
  • 14:25 – Start of the Counter-Strike 2 showmatch
  • 15:15 – Prematch
  • 16:00 – Start of the Grand Final

The Counter-Strike 2 showmatch will be broadcast on ESL CS’s Twitch and YouTube channels, and via dedicated broadcast partners.

CS2 was announced earlier this week by its developer and publisher, Valve. The game will receive massive upgrades to its mechanics and as well as graphics. Players who own CS:GO will be able to freely upgrade to Counter-Strike 2 when it arrives globally in the summer of 2023. The game is currently conducting a Limited Test with professional players.

The upcoming Paris Major will be the final CS:GO Major. The Major that will be held after it in March 2024 will be the first one to be played in CS2.
