Cloud9 wins League of Legends Championship series 2020

After 6 long years, Cloud9 won their first League of Legends Championship series by defeating FlyQuest in straight sets. The team has been in finals for the last 7 times but always ended up getting the second position for 6 times but ultimately getting the title in this season. The last title was won against TSM 3-0 in 2014.

The first initial minutes of the game was close for both the teams with equal scores but Cloud9 later won the game easily through the two games. Robert “Blaber” Huang won the most valuable player award. All five members of Cloud9 were All-Pro first team, and all but top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie were in the top ten for MVP votes. Top three came down to Blaber, Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer, and Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, with Blaber being crowned MVP.

The prize pool of the championship was 200,000 USD where the winning team got 100,000 USD and the runner up and 2nd runner up got 50,000 USD and 30,000 USD respectively.

With this win, Cloud9 has confirmed their spot for the upcoming Mid Season invitational 2020 which is scheduled to be held in July. Total 4 teams will get the slot for the group stage. Another team that has been invited for the tournament is G2 esports.
