Cloud 9’s Perkz and Team Liquid’s Alphari are set to join Team Vitality in the LEC for the 2022 season. Reports have surfaced that Luka ‘Perkz’ Perkovic from Cloud 9 and Barney ‘Alphari’ Morris from Team Liquid will be returning to the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) this season. Team Vitality has reached an agreement with both people and they will be joining from this roster in the LEC 2022 season.
While both the players made important contributions for their teams in Worlds 2021, their efforts did not produce a stark result. Team Liquid managed to force a tie-breaker in their Group Stage but was eliminated by Gen.G there and thus exited the tournament. Cloud 9 managed to advance to the Quarter Finals but were defeated by Gen.G with a humiliating 3-0 score in the best of 5 series.
There had already been reports that Perkz was looking to move back to the League of Legends European Championship aka LEC region as he wished to stay close with his family. With Alphari in the mix, Team Vitality will have a superb lineup for the 2022 season.
If the deal goes through, both players will be returning for the LEC after one year. In 2020, Alphari had left for Team Liquid from Astralis while Perkz went away from G2 Esports to Cloud 9. Team Vitality has been quite a subdued force in the LEC sector. In 2021, they ended up with a 10th spot finish (last place) in the LEC Spring Season while having a 6th spot finish in the LEC Summer Season. It allowed them to qualify for the LEC Summer Playoffs where they lost to Fnatic and ended their 2021 season.
With rumors that other major juggernauts of LEC like G2 Esports and Fnatic will also be seeing roster shuffles, the upcoming 2022 season of the region is bound to be quite entertaining as many new powers may rise here.
