Cloud 9 puts Perkz on buyout as he supposedly wants to go back to Europe. According to various sources, it has been reported that Luka “Perkz” Perkovic has told Cloud 9 that he does not wish to play for them in the 2022 League of Legends season. He has cited personal and family reasons behind this decision. Cloud 9 is contemplating the decision to put him on the buyout market.
If this happens, Perkz’s LCS journey will end after just one season with Cloud 9. He has helped the team to win the LCS Mid-Season Showdown in April that enabled them to qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational. Although they were not able to secure the top two place finish in the LCS Summer Split playoffs, Cloud 9 managed to qualify for the League of Legends World Championships 2021 as the last representative from North America.
In the Worlds 2021, he helped Cloud 9 to win in the Play-In Rounds and qualify for the Group Stage. Moreover, he was crucial to Cloud 9 in weathering the Group Stage matchups and advancing to the Quarter Finals. Unfortunately, they were defeated 3-0 by Gen.G here.

It is being said that Perkz broke this news to the Cloud 9 management team before his best of 5 Quarter-Finals series against Gen.G. He had told them that due to family reasons, he does not wish to play for the team in 2022. He expressed that he wanted to be close to his family in this pandemic time, especially after his father died in June 2020. He has also reportedly shown interest in creating a new team around him and will be looking to find franchises, mostly from Europe, who can help him to achieve his goal.
Perkz has a multi-million dollar three-year contract with Cloud 9 that expires in November 2023. Cloud 9 is reportedly looking for another team that can buy out Perkz and gets his contract rights. The management from Cloud 9 has still not given any official statement regarding this till now.
