Activision, the publisher of the world-famous battle royale video game “Call of Duty: Warzone announced the ‘World Series of Warzone 2021’. According to them, it is the largest program prize pool of any previous Warzone tournaments to date. World Series of Warzone is a semi-invitational program that will be separated into trios- and duos-based competitions for each of the North American and European regions.
The event showcases four online Call of Duty: Warzone competitions with a $300,000 prize pool for each event. The event will be classified into two competitions in two regions as Trios NA, Trios EU, Duos NA, and Duos EU. Thus, the whole series is featuring a $1.2 million prize pool.
The first competition is set to commence with players based in North America for the World Series of Warzone: Trios NA. A total of 50 trio squads will compete for six matches, accumulating points based on kills and the overall placement of their squads. The prize pool of $200,00 will be distributed among these squads. The first event under this series will kick off on June 23rd, 2021 for the North American region.
An additional $100,000 is up for grabs for the players in the Captain’s Cup – a fun twist that will be led by some of the biggest names in Call of Duty esports.
Note: To keep the tournament under the fair play policies. Each participant will need to pass an extensive and internal Activision security check to make sure their Activision accounts are in good standing. Anyone found with violated tournament rules will be banned from all future Activision sponsored Warzone events.
SCORING
The scoring system is the same for both categories of the event. It is based on each participant’s total kills and placement in each match. 1WSOW point will be awarded for each kill per squad member on each match. The position points are as follows:
- 1st Place – points X2 – multiplier
- 2nd – 15th Place – points X1.5 – multiplier
- 16th – 50th Place – points X1 – no multiplier
