California State government has filed a lawsuit against Activision, developer of Call of Duty Games. The company Activision Blizzard has been accused of some horrifying workplace issues at its end. The official lawsuit filed by the California State government states that Activision’s workplace involves the “FRAT boy” culture. There have been multiple pieces of evidence and statements given by female victims working at Activision over the years.
The lawsuit also mentions that the state government had tried to work with Activision Blizzard to resolve the ongoing issues to avoid the litigation stage. However, Activision Blizzard did not agree and failed to resolve the issues according to government standards. Hence, the lawsuit has been filed and Activision finds itself in deep trouble now. You can check the whole file of the lawsuit here.
According to the official statements of the lawsuit, the “FRAT BOY” culture has prevailed in the Activision workplace very dominantly. Also, women are subjected to “Cube Crawls” which means Male employees drink immense amounts of Alcohol and crawl their way through various cubicles in the office, and indulge in inappropriate behavior with the female employees.
Male employees apparently come to the workplace drunk and are in a “hangover” state. They put all the work burden on their female counterparts and play video games and enjoy their day during work hours. Demeaning and talking about female body parts, joking about rape and engaging in sexual encounters with female employees is very common in their workplace it seems.
Apart from sexual harassment, females have also been subject to professional injustice regarding promotion, salary, and appreciation. Like mentioned earlier, most men in that workspace do not work and put the burden on the female employees. Despite bearing such horrific incidents and yet working hard for the company, female employees are not getting justice in promotions or salary payments.
They are not given equal pay for similar work done as their male counterparts and are also demoted to smaller levels. These females have legit evidence of the work they have done for Activision like generating more revenue for the company, high-rated performance reviews, and many more which should be subject to promotion or at least equal pay as their male counterparts.
However, Activision Blizzard has issued a long statement regarding the alleged claims on them. They clearly defend their workplace environment and claim to offer equal opportunities for both Male and Female employees. According to them, they foster a supportive, diverse, and inclusive workplace for its people.
The company seems to have “improved” the workplace environment now, and the allegations they have been accused of are very old according to them. As more and more evidence keeps coming in every hour, we must wait and watch patiently to know the real truth of the current Activision workplace.
