This announcement marks an evolution of BLAST’s previous collaboration with Competitive Fortnite, where the company successfully executed various FNCS events over the past three years. Notably, the FNCS Global Championship held in Copenhagen emerged as a major success in October, attracting over 725,000 peak viewers and offering a substantial $4 million USD prize pool – the fourth most-watched Competitive Fortnite event to date.

Leo Matlock, Chief Business Officer for BLAST, expressed pride in the monumental deal with Epic Games, emphasizing the future of competitive gaming collaboration between organizations like BLAST and leading publishers. Matlock highlighted BLAST’s commitment to positive change in esports, noting the significance of the expanded relationship with Epic Games, which now includes the operation of the RLCS alongside the FNCS.
BLAST’s initial partnership with Competitive Fortnite in 2021 laid the foundation for this collaboration, leading to BLAST’s operational involvement in the entire 2022 and 2023 FNCS schedules, including the FNCS Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, in November 2022.
