Blacklist International become the MPL Philippines Season 8 Champions. Many people were critical of Blacklist International’s MPL Philippines Season 7 victory and doubted whether they could recreate their magic on the main stage again. The team did just that by successfully defending their title against Onic PH in the Grand Finals of MPL Philippines Season 8 again. Their back-to-back MPL title wins have silenced all haters.

MPL Philippines Season 8: Grand Finals Summary

The Grand Finals was a best of 7 series and it went as follows:

1st Match:

Blacklist went with Lunox on OHEB, Aldous on Wise, Yve on Hadji, Barats on Edwards and Mathilda on OhMyV33NUS. Onic PH went with single target focus heroes like Karina on Kairi, Natan on Markyyyyy, Lylia on Baloyskie, Paquito on Dlarskie, and Akai on Beemo.

While Blacklist built up an early lead in the game with objectives and kills, Onic PH was able to make a comeback at the 10th minute. Still, Blacklist persevered by picking off Onic PH heroes continuously. After taking the 3rd Lord, they ended the game in 23 minutes. Blacklist 1-0 Onic PH

2nd Match:

In the second match, Onic PH took Paquito on Kairi, Natan on Markyyyyy, Grock on Beemo, X Borg on Dlarskie, and Lunox on Baloyskie. Blacklist went with Alice on OHEB, Balmond on Wise, Yve on Hadji, Yu Zhong on Edward, and Mathilda on OhMyV33NUS.

Both teams were playing aggressively from the start, continuously ganking the opponent’s lanes. The back and forth team fights continued until Onic PH won the game in the 21st minute with a close 16-14 kill score against Blacklist. Blacklist 1-1 Onic PH

3rd Match:

Blacklist chose Lunox on OHEB, Bane on Wise, Grock on Hadji, Mathilda on OhMyV33NUS and Paquito on Edward. Onic PH went with Natan on Hatred, Lancelot on Kairi, Gloo on Dlarksie, Yve on Baloyskie, and Jawhead on Beemo.

Blacklist continuously ganked Onic PH heroes because they lacked early game damage. OHEB and Wise from Blacklist overtook Hatred and Kairi from Onic PH in the gold lead and thus completed their items faster. Blacklist ended the match in just 14 minutes. Blacklist 2-1 Onic PH

4th Match:

Here, Blacklist selected Harith on OHEB, Bane on Wise, Chou on Hadji, Mathilda on OhMyV33NUS, and Paquito on Edward. Onic PH chose Lunox on Hatred, Freya on Beemo, Benedetta on Kairi, Uranus on Dlarskie, and Natan on Baloyskie.

Blacklist played superbly here as their supports were always present and backing their laners while ganking the Onic PH heroes. It was perfect gameplay from Blacklist as they ended the game in 11 minutes with a 17-0 kills score against Onic PH. Blacklist 3-1 Onic PH

5th Match:

It was a match point for Blacklist and thus they went with Natan on OHEB, Bane on Wise, Jawhead on Hadji, Mathilda on OhMyV33NUS, and Barats on Edward. Onic PH chose Grock on Beemo, Lancelot on Kairi, Lunox on Baloyskie, Paquito on Markyyyyy, and Yu Zhong on Dlarskie.

While Onic PH had some good plays here, it looked like Blacklist was always ahead of them. They were able to break the Onic PH formation and somehow always find one or two separated heroes in the map for picking off. Blacklist ended the game at 10 minutes to become the MPL Philippines Season 8 Champions. Blacklist 4-1 Onic PH

Conclusion

Blacklist International won the best of 7 series and was able to successfully defend their title. As the back-to-back MPL Philippines champions, for Season 7 and 8, they have emerged as one of the best MLBB esports teams in the world.
