BGMI Ban in India: Ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India leads Indian Esports industry to Major Setback
Esports Industry has revealed that it seems that the removal of BGMI can dissuade many sponsors from investing in the India Esports ecosystem in the upcoming days.
The rapid gain in popularity in the past months was enough for them. Its new optimizations, content, and more brought another level of craze among gamers. Moreover, their organized tournament has broken many records in viewership and more. Organizers like Nodwin and more always put their best to lift up the Indian esports community by always introducing something unexpected. These all things have put a flux in the Indian community after the sudden ban of BGMI. Thus leading to a bad impact on the genre. As per the news, many sponsors and investors are uncertain now about their underwrite in Indian esports.
The director of Alpha Zegus, Rohit Agarwal has shared some of his thoughts about the impact of BGMI and the Indian esports genre. He thinks that decisions made in recent days are demotivating the overall industry. He stated:
“Tournament organizers had planned tournaments for the next year. In fact, there are about three tournaments that are just around the corner, and all bookings have already been made and heavy investments have gone in. Such uncertainty just puts things at a standstill, and the impact of such decisions coming in overnight messes up with the timelines and demotivates the industry in general.” Rohit Agarwal.
Moreover, following the news Shivam Rao, Co-Founder of Trinity Gaming also shared his thoughts by saying that this unexpected ban can literally create a bad impact on professional users and will also lead to demotivate before they start their careers.
“Professional teams have sponsorships and targets to achieve which will become difficult given the ban on the game. Brand collaborations will face a serious downfall in their viewership, thereby affecting channel statistics which will push content creators further down, leading to a loss of opportunities and marketing collaborations for them.” Shivam Rao.

Rohit Aggarwal further stated that the ban on BGMI can also affect Indian esports on an international level too. The professional players were likely to represent the county in a tournament in Riyadh. However, all these plans got prohibited due to the ban of BGMI.
Industry experts believe that all these issues can be fixed by setting up proper rules and regulations. This will help the developers and the player to understand the actual reason and limitations of that particular title. Lastly, Krafton wants the players to wait and hope for the unban of BGMI till any further statement is persuaded.
