The online multiplayer party game “Among Us”, nicknamed by players as the “Space version of Werewolf”, has recently set off a whirlwind in the player community. This game was actually launched as early as 2018 and did not receive much attention at the time. There has been a leap in growth in the past two months, especially on mobile devices. The total downloads on mobile devices alone have reached 86.6 million.
In “Among Us” players are divided into two camps, one side is to kill the opponent, the other is to catch the murderer. The gameplay is quite similar to the popular group game “Werewolf” or “Mafia”. This game user interference is to easy to understand. The player community is so popular that even e-sports players cannot resist the charm of this game.
The North American championship team Team SoloMid (TSM) also fell into the charm of “Among Us”. Doublelift wrote: “I swear this game is destroying our team friendship.” The team’s substitute assistant Treatz choked under the post.
Industry insider Daniel Ahmad also provides some insight into the mighty rise of Among Us popularity. “After six weeks at the top, Fall Guys has finally been dethroned by Among Us which has been climbing the charts for a number of weeks. Medieval Dynasty, Hades and a new expansion for Conan Exiles are the new entries for the week. Sea of Thieves re-enters the chart at #5,” he tweets.
