Alan Wake remastered Officially Announced for PC, XBOX, and PlayStation. Epic Games has announced that a remaster of the 2010 Xbox cult favorite Alan Wake will be released later this fall for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation. Remedy Games, the development studio behind the hit third-person shooter Control, had previously announced an agreement with the firm to publish two of its projects. The first was an “AAA-Multiplatform Release,” and the second was a smaller game situated in the same universe, which many believe is the Alan Wake remaster.

Alan Wake is a fantastic game for those who are unfamiliar with it. It follows the titular Alan Wake, a Stephen King-esque horror writer, as he struggles to cope with nightmares in the Pacific Northwest. While the game’s flashlight-based combat was occasionally clumsy, it was passionately invested in the sense of place and mystery it generated. Its story made extensive use of fiction, perspective, and the power of language, and it is now widely regarded as an Xbox 360 generation classic.

Fans have been clamoring for a return to Bright Falls for years, and their excitement only grew when it was revealed that Control was set in the same universe as Alan Wake, culminating in some Alan Wake-themed DLC. The remedy is also working on an unannounced game set in the Control/Alan Wake shared universe, which could be Alan Wake 2. Or perhaps not! It’s currently in full development, so we’ll find out in the not-too-distant future.

A remaster may not satisfy those who have been waiting for a sequel, but after 10 years, there are bound to be plenty of you who are hungry for a duplicate that looks a little fancier. This edition will include the original game and two expansions, fully reworked in 4K, as well as a commentary by creative director and Max Payne face Sam Lake.

Of course, Alan Wake Remastered will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, as well as the PC, where it will reportedly be available exclusively through the Epic Games Store. Despite the fact that the Alan Wake remake is nearly finished, no official release date for Alan Wake Remastered has been announced, but it is expected to be published this fall.
